TIMELINE
Because of the nonlinear nature of Another Day, I've compiled a timeline for Shiki. This is the order in which Another Day happens for her and this is the way she'll likely talk about it.
- Neku plays a round of Tin Pin against Shiki. She loses and tells Neku he should become the champion and then, after "he" gives Neku the prize, Neku should shake her hand.
- Slam-off at Molco. This is the big yearly Tin Pin Tournament, and Shiki loses in the 2nd round of the preliminaries but stays to watch the finals. Just before the last round of the tournament begins, though, the company hired to organize the event's security steals everyone's pins! Neku's pins, however, are safe because he freaks out about someone touching his headphones.
- Shooter attempts to get his pins back and discovers that the people who have stolen all their pins are named the Black Skullers and they've stolen the pins in order to purify the game of Tin Pin. Because all the pins have been stolen, the Slam-off is cancelled, and Neku is about to go home when Shooter approaches him. When Shooter asks if his pins have been stolen, Neku lies and says they have. Shooter then asks Neku to join him in getting back everyone's pins and tells him to meet "them" at Ramen Don.
- Neku goes to Ramen Don like Shooter asked and says (like Shooter said) that he's looking for Dr. Pin, which makes Ken Doi (the owner) freak out until Shooter arrives and tells Neku that he's found "kindred spirits" that are also going to help them. It turns out that Joshua, Shiki, and Beat have joined in the fight to SAVE THE PINS.
- Everyone introduces themselves, and gets assigned a color because they're
Crayon WarriorsKINDRED SPIRITS. Shooter is Red, of course, because he's the leader. Beat is Yellow, because . . . curry? Shiki is going to be Pink, but Joshua objects and so she becomes Green (the color of her skirt). Neku is just Blue, but Joshua says he seems more like a Black 'n' Blue, so he becomes Black 'n' Blue. Introductions complete, Shooter introduces their ally "Dr. Pin" and tells him all about what happened at Molco. - "Dr. Pin" tells them that Neku is the key to their victory because he still has his pins. All they have to do is play Tin Pin like crazy, make a show of it, and then the Black Skullers will come to them. "Dr. Pin" gives them a pin so they can win, but Ken Doi intervenes and tells them that the pin is a dud. When they test it out, they find that what he's told them is true. "Dr. Pin" gets upset, and Joshua seems suspicious of him. The moment is lost when Beat interrupts and asks for more curry ramen. Ken Doi tells him there isn't any, but he'll make more and Beat should go play with his friends.
- The Spirits head to 104 and meet another Prince Fan/Shiki friend, Nao-Nao. Nao-Nao asks Shiki if she's going to have the "stuff" ready. As it turns out, the White Angels are apparently wearing shirts that say "Super Princely Bithday Love Magic☆" to a concert and sitting in the front row. Shiki asks Nao-Nao to play Tin Pin. Neku wins.
- Embolded by their first win, the group heads to A-East where they battle with the Prince and Shiki reveals herself as a big big big Prince fangirl. She's so flustered she can barely make real words. Neku wins against the Prince, even though Shiki tells him not to, and Shiki apologizes profusely to Prince, who laughs it off.
- From A-East, the Spirits head into the Concert Stage, where they meet the Pin Prof, a friend of Neku's. Neku stops him from ranting forever by asking him to show them his favorite pin. The Pin Prof says he'll give Neku the pin if he wins against him. Neku loses, but demands a rematch and gets the pin. The Pin Prof starts ramblind again, and Neku cuts him off, saying that they have to go.
- They go to the Shibukyu Main Store, where they meet up with a friend of Shiki’s, Mina. The Spirits learn that the White Angels and Black Diablos are Prince fan groups at war. Neku challenges Mina to a Tin Pin match and wins against her.
- Heading to the Statue of Hachiko, the Spirits Meet up with Ai, who’s Beat’s childhood friend. They learn that Beat apparently does COMEDY. To divert attention, Beat challenges Ai to Tin Pin. He wins.
- At West Exit Bus Terminal, the gang meets Futoshi, who both Beat and Shiki know. Futoshi confirms that Beat does comedy and Beat says that they broke up the act. He won't say why, but Joshua says that if Neku wins against Futoshi, Beat has to tell. Neku wins, even though Futoshi can control two pins at once, and Beat says that he does comedy with his sister, Rhyme, who apparently fired him.
- Going through Station Underpass to Trail of the Sinner, the group pauses. Neku decides to go in, Shiki and Beat pass, and Joshua accepts. He gets a little flirty with Neku, and Shiki decides to tag along to see them—err, stop them. Beat decides go too.
- From Trail of the Sinner, the group heads to Rubicon. Shiki asks what the place is and Joshua gives a Greek Mythology lesson about the River Styx.
- They head into the Dead God’s Pad, where Neku, Shiki and Beat spaz out because the place is swank. Randomly, there is someone there—the Vice Wizard of Slam. Shooter wants tips and challenges him to a slam-off, and the Vice Wizard of Slam agrees. Shooter loses.
- Meanwhile, the rest of the group pokes around the Dead God's Pad. Beat somehow trips a switch and they end up on the Trail of the Judged, where Neku spazzes the fuck out because lol, CAT’s graffiti.
- Proceeding to the Room of Reckoning, everyone spazzes again and Joshua tells a legend about how the person who rules Shibuya is seated there and asks if Neku would like to play a game with him, winner take Shibuya. Shiki finds someone else in the room with them—another Joshua. He explains that he comes from a parallel world and asks Neku to play a game to kill time. Neku accepts and wins.
- After that, the Spirits decide to head back toward Center Street. On the way, they encounter Yammer, Shooter’s BFF, who tells the group that a mix of Yammer and Shooter would make the perfect slammer. Shooter challenges Yammer to Tin Pin and wins. Yammer is very sad about giving away his pin and tells Shooter that he's not allowed to give it away ever.
- While on Center Street, the group also encounters Koinishi ("Mrs. K"), Beat’s schoolteacher. She tells him to patch things up with Rhyme, he goes "grr" and says that Neku is going to beat her or he's gonna kill him. Neku wins against Konishi.
- Crossing AMX to Tipsy Toes, the group meets the President. Joshua knows him and milks him for info on the Black Skullers, but he doesn't know anything. Shooter challenges him to Tin Pin and wins.
- Then they head to Shibu-Q Heads, where they meet up with Sota who is Neku’s hairstylist. He embarasses Neku, and Shooter says that if Sota wins against Neku, he has to tell Neku's secret. Neku wins, but Joshua guess his secret: apparently, Neku brought Sota his desired hairstyles from comic books when he was younger.
- Neku's secret out, the group heads to Udagawa Back Streets where they meet Megumi (the Mayor) who Joshua knows. Shooter challenges him to Tin Pin and wins. The mayor knows nothing about the Black Skullers, though.
- Thanking him, the Spirits head to Molco. They meet up with Makoto there and find out that Joshua writes a column for his magazine. Shooter asks him to play them at Tin Pin and Joshua says that if they win, Makoto needs to extend his deadline. Neku wins against him and Makoto reveals that Joshua writes the "Pinside Edition" column for "Pinhead Weekly," which is everyone is a fan of.
- After convincing Joshua to turn his column in on time, they head to Miyashita Park and meet up with Rhyme, who they decide is Black in the Kindred Spirits because the Black Skullers stole her pins too.
- The group heads to Towa Records, where they meet up with 777. Shiki is a fan, and 777 knows Beat and Rhyme. He asks if they have any new jokes, and Rhyme says they're on a break and trying Tin Pin. 777 says that's a shame and the tension between Beat and Rhyme is high. To clear the air a little, Shiki suggest a round of Tin Pin. 777 agrees, and Shooter goes up against him. He wins.
- The group decides to head back to Ramen Don to see what they should do next, but are stopped by a "booth babe" Neku met earlier. Neku wins against him, but then Kariya enters the scene and reveals that Rhyme is a traitor. She breaks Shooter's Red Kaiser, and with Red Kaiser broken their leader is in shambles.
- The Spirits head back to Ramen Don with heavy hearts. They don't stay that way for long, though, because Ken Doi reveals himself as a creator of Tin Pin (and Dr. Pin senior). He gives them the new Kaisers, and Joshua calls rainbow.
- Re-energized, the Kindred Spirits head out to DEFEAT THE BLACK SKULLERS. They go to Miyashita Park to challenge them. Uzuki proposes a challenge to make things interesting: if the Black Skullers win, they get all of the Kindred Spirits pins. If the Kindred Spirits win, the Black Skullers return all the pins they stole. Both teams agree to the terms and play five matches.
- Joshua plays against the Tutorial Guy and wins, but suspects that he threw the match. Beat goes up against Rhyme and wins. Shiki is going to be up against Higashizawa, but Uzuki intervenes because she has beef with Shiki. They have a huge fight over Prince, because Uzuki is head of the Black Diablos and Shiki is head of the White Angels. Shiki wins, and the pair makes up, only to blow up again because they're both into 777. While they're fighting, Neku beats Kariya. Then, Higashizawa reveals that he’s the TRUE CREATOR of Tin Pin and he wants to cure it of impurities. He's up against Shooter, who wins.
- Higashizawa reveals the backstory of Tin Pin's creation, and Ken Doi shows up. He tells Higashizawa that he's happy with his ramen shop and that he thought tin Pin would be okay as long as it had Higashizawa and Dr. Pin, who shows up. He gives Shooter Omega Kaiser Phoenix, which Shooter uses against Higashizawa. He wins again, and Higashizawa says that Shooter is the future of Tin Pin.
- Dr. Pin says that he built Shooter's new kaiser off of Ken Doi's design, and everyone makes up. Yay! The Spirits head back to Molco, where Neku goes up against Shooter and wins. Shiki says goodbye to everyone and heads home.
